Letzten Sommer konnte ich vom Piz Boè-Gipfel hinüber zum Rosengarten der Dolomiten sehen. Dort hinauf wollte ich. Jetzt habe ich einen langen, aber wunderschönen Weg von Berghütte zu Berghütte hinter mir. Meine Kamera war dabei.

Dieses Bild zeigt Noah's Frau. Noah und die Arche sind schon oft gemalt worden, aber die Frau (in der Erzählung "die Schatzhöhle" heisst sie Haikal) kommt oft zu kurz. Hier ist sie mit den weiblichen Tieren des Waldes unterwegs. Die Arche selbst ist die fruchtbare Erde, der Baum und die Wurzeln. Klick drauf, dann geht's auf.

This picture is dedicated to noahs wife. Noah and the ark are common painting subjects, but the woman is often ignored (it is said in an apocryphal legend that her name is Haikal). I painted her together with female wood animals. The ark itself represents the fruitful earth, the tree and the roots. Click on the picture for a larger image.

♥ Für Mikka

Ksenia hat mich eingeladen, einen Bären für ihren verstorbenen Mann Mikka und ihre kleine Tochter zu malen. Es ist ein Bär, der mit den Bienen tanzt. Mikka war ein guter Fotograf von Menschenportraits in schwarz-weiß. Vor einem halben Jahr ist er ausgeraubt und in einen Fluss geworfen worden. Jetzt soll zu seinem Andenken ein Bärenbuch entstehen. Eigentlich wollte ich oben auf dem Bücherstapel einen kleinen (in Wirklichkeit großen) Jungen ausruhen und chillen lassen. Aber dann hätte ich auf den Kringelhaareffekt des Mädchens verzichten müssen. Natürlich gibt es auch Jungs mit langen Haaren. In meinen Bildern sieht aber jede Figur mit langen Haaren wie ein Mädchen aus. Also darf ein Mädchen oben auf den Büchern liegen und träumen. Träumer/innen sind wir alle. First I was supposed to draw a boy on top of the books but I didn't want to do the painting without the long curling hair effect. Although boys have long hair too, everyone and everything with long hair looks like a girl in my pictures. So that's why a girl sleeps on top of the book tower. We are all dreamers. Click it.

Bis 20. Juni sind im Dommuseum Wien Bilder zur Bibel von Arik Brauer zu sehen. Als Fan des fantastischen Realismus gefällt mir besonders sein leuchtendes Orange, zum Beispiel im brennenden Dornbusch, und das Blau der Blumen, die aus Menschen und einer Dornenkrone wachsen. Dabei verwendet er keine Körperschatten, "weil alles eins ist".

In the Dommuseum Vienna you can watch paintings from Arik Brauer until the 20th of june. I'm a big fan of his art style (Vienna fantastic realism), therefore I was pleased to join the exhibition of pictures which are usually non-public. Brauer is concentrating on painting lively stories of the bibel such as Samson, Isaac and songs of Solomon...
